By the 2403 Group team, October 2026A lot of rights holders start thinking about a renewal three months before the contract ends. By then, the partner’s marketing team has usually already decided. You just have not been told yet.
Agree what success looks like, up front
At signing, sit down with the partner and agree what they are trying to achieve: awareness, leads, sales, staff engagement, community reputation. Then agree how you will measure it. It sounds obvious. It is skipped surprisingly often.
Report every month, not every season
- What we delivered, with photos, clips and numbers
- What the audience did: reach, engagement, entries, redemptions
- What we learned and what we will change next month
- One new idea they did not ask for
Monthly reports keep you in the partner’s inbox for good reasons. They also give your contact the material they need to defend the spend inside their own company. Make them look good and they will fight for you.
Over-deliver on something small
A player visit to their office. A signed shirt for their best customer. A shout-out on a big night. These cost little and are remembered for a long time.
Open the renewal early
With a season of proof behind you, start the conversation six months out. Talk about what comes next, not what it costs. Early renewals tend to happen at the right value, because nobody is negotiating under pressure.
The best renewal pitch is twelve monthly reports that all say the same thing: this works.
